Alder Springs is a winemaker's paradise. It's a geographical anomaly in that there are virtually no other vineyards around it for miles in any direction. It's high in elevation and benefits from warm days, cool nights and well-draining hillside soils. From the beginning when it was first developed, the vineyard has been farmed naturally in-house. Owner Stuart Bewley is steadfastly committed to continuously improving practices in every aspect of farming and being a steward to the land he has cared for since 1991.

This pristine parcel of West Sonoma County has been organically farmed since it's first stages of development in the early 1990s. Vine age is 20+ years across the 2 blocks of Pinot Noir, with a new block of Pinot Noir currently in development. Topography is undulating hillside.
The surrounding area around the vineyard is redwood forest, an ancient apple orchard, and beautiful organic vegetable, fruit and flower gardens. The name "Chouette" is the French word for a baby owl, which if you are lucky, you might hear in the foggy mornings while walking the rows.

The Mill Station Vineyard is cross sectioned by two creeks and has a variety of aspects, and exposure. Nestled deep in a valley, it is bathed in heavy marine fog in the morning and cool
coastal breezes at night.
Our block is a gradual sloping hillside that was planted in 1973 and has been dry farmed since day one. The old guard vines consistently produce small berries and clusters, making wines that express complex flavors and electric acidity.

Situated 2.5 miles from the ocean on an exposed open knoll, the McDougall Ranch Vineyard is a true sight to be seen as you enter through the cattle gate and walk under grand old oak trees.
Before you is the sprawling 7.8 acres of 24-year-old clone 114 and 115 Pinot Noir. The south facing vineyard experiences warm sunny days, and by mid-afternoon the coastal fog fills in the
river drainage below.
